EMA conducts all phases of soil and
groundwater remediation from initial AFSS investigation through remedial
action selection, implementation, and project closure. EMA's approach
which utilizes field analysis of contaminants to reduce costs and phases of
investigation while better defining the contaminate source area. This
technique has been
used by EMA to fully define sizable contaminate plumes in as little as
two days and has also proven highly compatible with the
tiered evaluation approach of risk-based corrective action (RBCA).
When evaluating site remediation alternatives, EMA first considers the
actual need for remediation. EMA has state of the art contaminate modeling capabilities to assess and support natural attenuation proposals
as well as RBCA Tier 3 -type evaluations. If the level of contamination
relative to applicable regulations warrants active site remediation, EMA
will design a remediation system based on the contaminants of concern,
the subsurface conditions, the distribution of contaminates, and the
phases of contamination in the subsurface.
